at the Hamburger Polo Club
Medium Goal Polo Tournament
The first big tournament of the season has been taking place on the grounds of the Hamburger Polo Club in Klein Flottbek for years. This is when Germany’s oldest bank, the Berenberg Bank, founded in 1590, extends its invitation to the polo derby which carries the same name.
The German polo season start with the Berenberg polo derby from 30th May until 1st June and 6th until 8th June 2008. Whether you call it the „Game of Kings“, think of the famous polo scene in the Hollywood film „Pretty Woman“, imagine Prince Charles and his sons on their horses or the champagne-sipping High Society- polo always finds publicity. What makes this sport so fascinating?
Polo brings together many facets. The audiences experience elegance and precision on the playing field, which is 7 times the size of a football field. Speed and raciness can be admired, both amongst the horses and the perfectly hit balls, which can reach speeds of up to 150kmh.
